- Do you realize that Jesus was the Word of God in the flesh; and that the Old Testament Scriptures were inspired by Him? (John 1:1-14; 2 Tim. 3:16) - Do you realize that the New Covenant was God's Moral Law written on the hearts of believers, and that only the Ceremonial Law, as a middle wall of partition between Jew and Gentile, was fulfilled in Christ as the Lamb of God and therefore done away in Christ? (Compare Heb. 8:10 and Eph. 2:13-16) - Do you realize that a New Covenant believer who walks in the Spirit is fulfilling the righteousness of Moses' Law? (Romans 8:4) - Do you realize that any prophet speaking contrary to God's inspired Word is a false prophet, and therefore Jesus must be interpreted as speaking consistent with God's Word? (Isa. 8:20; Matt. 22:29) - Do you realize the Old Testament Scriptures were the only Scriptures Jesus spoke of and the apostles had at the first? (John 10:35; Luke 24:45; Acts 17:11; 2 Tim. 3:15-17) - Do you realize Malachi foretold that Jesus would come and preach against adulterers and in the same prophecy commanded the people to keep obeying Moses' Law? (Malachi 3:1-5 and 4:4) - Do you realize that everything taught in the New Testament concerning marriage, divorce, and remarriage is consistent with God's moral law? (Romans 7:1; 1 Cor. 7:39) - Do you realize there is no evidence in church history or the Bible that the apostles or early Christians ever denied baptism and membership to converted couples due to divorce and remarriage in their past? - Do you realize the pilgrim church and Anabaptist believers did not deny baptism and church membership to couples with divorce and remarriage in their past? Do you wish to know what the Bible REALLY teaches about divorce and remarriage? ...then carefully read this book with an open and honest heart seeking only for truth!

Marriage is good but a defiled bed is a veritable ground for wickedness. Marital unions that are not fulfilling the purpose of God and man are veritable grounds for destiny truncation. Are there marriages not joined by God? Is marriage compulsory for every believer? God hates divorce in human marriage but does He punish the innocent with the guilty party? Are there circumstances in which God permits Christian divorce and remarriage? Ensnaring tendencies in marital unions are widespread and can ensnare untaught and laisser-faire Christians into perdition. Misinterpretation of Scripture can lead to misapplication of doctrine which in turn can wreck havoc to an individual, a married couple, a family, a fellowship of believers and the Body of Christ as a whole. A failed marriage is a human tragedy: it is even a greater tragedy to allow an ungodly union to derail one's mission on earth. Destiny is more important than human marriage. There are destinies that cannot be fulfilled without dissolving ungodly marital relationships - human and spiritual. The author's turbulent marriage of thirty-five years would have consumed his life but for divine intervention. His resolve to rebuild his marital life strictly on biblical terms led to the revelations contained in this book, which are based on the Word of God. A revelation has the capacity to birth revival. As you read your eyes of understanding will open to understand what the Lord means by marriage and the responsibilities attached to marital relationships. You will also receive wisdom to rebuild the foundation of your mismatched marriage as well as the courage to extricate yourself from every ungodly relationship that is designed to make you miss heaven. If you are single and desire to marry this book will help you build a biblical foundation for marriage. If you are divorced or widowed, read this book before contemplating remarriage. Written from an eschatological perspective, this book is a companion to two books in the The MARANATHA Project series: MARRIAGE: An Exposition On Christian Marital Relationship & MARITAL RELATIONSHIPS: Uprooting Troublers Of Marriage. I recently spent one month in one of the leading countries of the world whose population is said to be twenty-five percent Christians. Yes, the claim is that one out of every four people is born again. I was also told that the divorce rate was sky-rocketing. One minister even told me that the divorce rate among believers was just as high as the one among the unsaved. I was told that leading ministers of the gospel were divorcing their wives and marrying other women, while continuing to have the blessings of God on their big ministries. This set me thinking! Were they using a Bible that was different from the one I was using? Were we in different religions? I began to think seriously on the subject. I read and re-read the Scriptures. You will find in the following pages the fruit of my study.

Divorce is rampant in the world and in the Church. The World Health Organization has named "swine flu" a pandemic because of its rapid spread around the world. Divorce, because of its rapid and out of control growth in the Church should be viewed as a Christian pandemic. Divorce and Remarriage looks at three areas, the problem, the solution and how to get to the solution. Divorce in the Christian church is a result of secular thinking and a biblical ignorance. The Bible is full of illustrations of marital strife and its affects on family, children and associates. The solution is simple; the Bible also gives explicit instructions and illustrations to the Christian so they can have a meaningful and fulfilling relationship. The last step is the hardest; how to arrive at the solution. Divorce and Remarriage is not a self help book. Christians cannot help themselves. Jesus said he would send a helper; the Holy Spirit. Therein lies the solution. In the power of the Holy Spirit we find the solution; a transformed life. Divorce and Remarriage is a call to Christians to take responsibility for their actions, submit themselves under the authority of Scripture and find fulfillment in their next and last marriage. Bill became a Christian while going through his second divorce. He is a graduate of Word Of Life Bible Institute in Schroon Lake, New York. He has a bachelor of Arts degree is Church Education from Southeastern Bible College in Birmingham, Alabama. He is currently living with his wife in Sarasota, Florida.

Despite a strong belief in the institution and sacredness of marriage, studies show that Christian spouses experience divorce at least as much as the secular population. But whatever the reasons for a divorce--beyond the divorce itself--many Christians want to know: does the Bible support remarriage? The fact is that no consensus exists among evangelicals on their views of remarriage, leaving many Christians confused. This Counterpoints volume explores the biblical and practical cases for the three main evangelical views on remarriage after divorce: Remarriage is not acceptable after divorce - defended by Gordon J. Wenham Remarriage is acceptable only after adultery or desertion - defended by William A. Heth Remarriage is acceptable for a variety of reasons - defended by Craig S. Keener Each of the three contributors offers his point of view succinctly and with biblical support, and each interacts with the others to help readers come to their own conclusions. The Counterpoints series presents a comparison and critique of scholarly views on topics important to Christians that are both fair-minded and respectful of the biblical text. Each volume is a one-stop reference that allows readers to evaluate the different positions on a specific issue and form their own, educated opinion.

Having been taught the strict Traditional View, the author studied the Scripture and concluded that this view is lacking both biblically and in practiceas are the Traditional Dissolution-Divorce, the Betrothal, and the Consanguinity views. Studying all the pertinent passages, the author adopted what he calls the More Liberal Dissolution-Divorce View. The two testaments teach the same view on divorce and remarriage with one exception. The New Testament passages of Jesus and the Apostle Paul are interpreted in harmony with Greek grammar and the meaning of words. The author concluded that the divorce teaching of Scripture is addressed only to believers, and that it is time to stop the hypocrisy (fostered by the other views) of professing a certain belief but not daring to implement that belief in practice. The author knows of no study in print that reaches these important conclusions.

All my books can be read online free at WayneODonnell.com. “Freely you have received, freely give” (Mt. 10:8). This booklet is included in and comprises a section of my book “The Special Ministries of Women: Pro-Headcovering, Pro-Remarriage in 1 Corinthians 11, Song of Solomon, and Jesus' Teaching on Divorce.” This booklet is about the one-flesh union and its implications for chastity, adultery, polygamy, divorce, and remarriage. Our modern egalitarian culture has caused people to misunderstand the Biblical definition of adultery and Jesus’ teaching about divorce and remarriage; which has resulted in untold amounts of suffering over the centuries. Most modern Bible teachers let their culture determine their interpretation of the Bible, instead of letting the Bible determine their evaluation of our culture. Men that teach divorces are invalid if they’re made for invalid reasons, teach exactly the opposite of what the Bible teaches. The Bible says “She may go and be another man’s wife” (Deut. 24:1-2), but they say she can’t go and be another man’s wife. The Bible says “to avoid fornication let every man have his own wife, and let every woman have her own husband,” but they say most divorced people can’t ever have a husband or wife. The Bible says, “If they can’t contain, let them marry,” but they say don’t let them marry. The Bible says “marriage is honorable and the bed undefiled” (Heb. 13:4), but they say marriage is not honorable and undefiled for most people who remarry. The ‘invalid divorce’ teachers cause the same kind of harm as those that “depart from the faith, ... forbidding to marry” (1 Tim. 4:3), because they forbid the use of God’s provision for avoiding fornication.
